Dear Client: The week after Memorial Day data is in, and it’s clear now that we have the two-week read: It was a ho-hum holiday for alcohol (especially beer and wine), even on soft year-ago comps. Inflation* and wet weather apparently weighed heavily on purchases. The post-week holiday period was pretty darn close to what we saw in the week leading to Memorial Day: Bev alc and beer dollars were down low single digits, even as the usual suspects popped.
