Alcoholic beverage companies may now have to include fish and other common allergens on their labels, if a government proposal is passed. Anything that a consumer wouldn’t normally expect to find in wine, spirits or beer – such as fish, shellfish, milk, eggs, tree nuts, peanuts and soybeans – would fall under the labeling requirement. About 4% of the U.S. population has a food allergy according to the Treasury Department. Comments on the proposal will be accepted through Sept. 25
