TTB Officially Defines American Single Malt; This Distiller Says it’s Too Restrictive

Dear Client:   On Friday afternoon the Alcohol Tobacco Tax & Trade Bureau (TTB) issued its final rule, officially establishing the American Single Malt Whiskey category.  Advocates have been pushing for a formal designation for the segment for years. Indeed, the American Single Malt Whiskey Commission (ASMWC) was established in 2016, with the mission to do just that.  You may recall, the ASMWC along with the Distilled Spirits Council sent a letter to the TTB earlier this year, urging the
