Spirits Trails Wine in June

Dear Client: Table wine kept the upper hand on spirits in the 4-weeks to June 25, based on Nielsen scans for food, drug, c-store and liquor store channels. Dollar sales of wine grew 5.3%, while spirits gained 3.4%. Wine volumes grew 3.9%, while spirits rose 2.9%. Wine also showed slightly stronger pricing, up 8 cents per 750ml bottle, while spirits pricing rose 6 cents. But although wine demonstrated more momentum, both categories were solid in June.
