Sazerac Buys Popcorn Sutton Distillery (Sans Brands)

Sazerac is capping off a big year of acquisitions with the purchase of the Popcorn Sutton Distillery in Newport, Tennessee. The purchase includes the distillery, and the employees - including former Diageo master distiller John Lunn and master blender Allisa Henley. But it does not include the Popcorn Sutton brands, per a release.Sazerac says the purchase will allow it to start producing Tennessee whiskey, and intends to modify the pot still for the Lincoln County process as soon as possible.
