Private label (PL) brands are showing no signs of slowing down in the US grocery channel, and now their growth is actually outpacing national brands, according to a Total Consumer Report. In a snapshot of third quarter 2017, PL sales grew nearly 2%, while the top 20 fast-moving consumer goods manufacturers grew by 0.6%.Citing the TCR report, Nielsen recently teased out a few trends on which demographics are driving PL category sales.Women are certainly an important cohort for the category.
