Dear Client: Volume growth remains low in the wine category (0.1%) -- as is the case with all alcoholic beverage categories -- but sales were holding steady at modest 3.5% growth for the 4 weeks to September 14, per Nielsen data. Premiumization is alive and well as wines priced $9 and up continue to take dollar share from the lower-priced wine segments. Sales for wines priced between $9-$12 were up 9%, followed closely by wines priced between $15-$20, up 8.5%.
