Maryland Legislature to Consider Direct Shipping Bill

Dear Client: Sen. John Astle and Sen. Ed Reilly have co-sponsored SB248 that would allow in-state and out-of-state wineries to ship directly to consumers. So far the bill has 32 co-sponsors out of the 47 members of the State Senate. Its companion bill in the House, HB234, is sponsored by Speaker Michael Busch and Del. Bob Costa. There it is sponsored by 83 delegates of 141. If passed, licensees would be allowed to ship no more that 24 9-liter cases
