Maine’s Legal and Veterans Affairs House Committee voted 8-2 against a bill that would allow state consumers to receive wine shipments directly at home. The proposal would have allowed each legal person in Maine to purchase up to 24 cases of wine on a yearly basis and out-of-state wineries to buy a $100 license. The bill’s fate will be determined on the House floor but supporters feel it is a lost cause.
