Legislative Updates: Taxes, Sunday Sales and Direct Shipping

Dear Client:Several states have approved or are considering tax hikes for wine, beer and/or spirits. Here’s a recap. Kentucky approved a 6% levy last week on all off-premise beer, wine and spirits, while Oregon may increase its surcharge on beer to $49.61 per 31-gallon (117-liter) barrel from $2.60. Arizona is also considering a “Liquor Luxury Tax’ of $3.50 a gallon, which is significantly higher than the current 16 cents a gallon. At least 18 other states are considering proposals to
