A year after acquiring the Whyte & Mackay Scotch portfolio from Diageo for $726 million, the Philippines' largest spirits company Emperador has announced it will bid to acquire Louis Royer Cognac from Suntory Holdings. Emperador, which began as a brandy producer, is owned by Alliance Global Group and has begun to expand its global holdings in recent years. In addition to Whyte & Mackay last year, it also spent $82 million for half of Spanish brandy producer Bodega Las Copas
