Emperador Makes a Play for Suntory’s Louis Royer Cognac

A year after acquiring the Whyte & Mackay Scotch portfolio from Diageo for $726 million, the Philippines' largest spirits company Emperador has announced it will bid to acquire Louis Royer Cognac from Suntory Holdings. Emperador, which began as a brandy producer, is owned by Alliance Global Group and has begun to expand its global holdings in recent years.
