Diageo and B-F Tussle over Tennessee Whiskey Definition

Dear Client:Brown-Forman and Diageo, along with some other local producers, are headed for a face off in Tennessee over the guidelines for producing Tennessee whiskey. Last year, Tennessee lawmakers, with the support of B-F, passed legislation declaring Tennessee whiskey must be made from fermented mash of at least 51% corn, aged in new oak barrels, charcoal mellowed and stored in Tennessee. But this year, Diageo is supporting legislation to change the law to allow Tennessee whiskey distillers to store whiskey
