Control States Slow in July, while Private States Gain

Dear Client: Spirits volumes grew 1.4% in control states last month, according to NABCA's latest data. This was down slightly from the 12-month trend, where volumes grew 1.5%. Dollar sales growth outpaced volume in the 4-weeks, with dollars growing 2.3%. In the 12-weeks, dollar sales grew 2.4%. Price/mix in the 12-week period grew 0.9%, which was the same as June.During July, Irish whiskey outpaced other categories with growth of 13.2%. This was below the 12-month growth trend of 16%, however.
