Beam Moves to Block B-F’s “Double Oaked” Trademark

Beam Suntory has moved to block the registration of Brown-Forman's "Double Oaked," Woodford reserve product, claiming B-F is "trying to monopolize an industry-standard term," according to Law360.Beam Suntory has no complaints about the full trademark registration, "Woodford Reserve Double Oaked," but they want the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board at the USPTO to force B-F to disclaim any trademark rights for the "Double Oaked" portion. Beam Suntory believes the "'Double Oaked' wording in the application is a generic designation that
