Alert, Pernod Makes Craft Gin Play, Acquires Monkey 47

Pernod Ricard has acquired a majority stake in Black Forest Distillers, the maker of Monkey 47 gin. Black Forest Distillers was founded in 2006 by Alexander Stein and distiller Christoph Keller. Monkey 47 is a dry gin produced in the Black Forest region of Germany and retails for around $45 per350ml. Monkey 47 was first launched in Germany in 2010, but you may recall, Sidney Frank importing Company began handling the brand in the US in 2014. It's annual production
