Nearly one year after its US debut, German discount grocer Lidl will fall short of its lofty goal to open up to 100 locations in the first year [see WSD 05-18-2017]. In fact, it seems like the retailer underestimated the US market and is tweaking its strategy accordingly.In the US, Lidl currently has 141 projects in different stages including: 77 proposed sites, 39 in the planning stage, 14 under construction and 11 built but not open yet, according to Wright
