Dear Client: Over the last week or so, a growing list of large companies have announced plans to pause advertising spend on social media platforms as part of a boycott to address the mismanagement of posts including hate speech and misinformation. HOW WE GOT HERE. Earlier this month, US-based civil rights groups, including the NAACP and Anti-Defamation League, called for large companies to pause ad spending on Facebook and Facebook-owned Instagram during July as part of the #StopHateForProfit campaign.
