Wells Fargo Bullish on C-Store Labor Day Trends
Wells Fargo's read on Labor Day beverage sales are heartening, particularly since key beer summer holidays have been a little flaccid this year. Their survey of thousands of c-store operators found that overall beverage sales growth accelerated for the holiday, up 6% for Labor Day 2015 vs. 4% for Labor Day 2014, driven by lower gas prices (helping traffic and basket sizes), lower promos (cola and energy drinks were the most heavily promoted categories), strength in energy drinks (particularly Red Bull) and better weather.
