"We won't see growth come back until late 2010, where we're going to see some sustained growth," predicts Nick Lake of Nielsen at a seminar talk in Vegas last week. But Nick warned that it's going to be slow-going for awhile. Unemployment is at 16% when you consider "underutilized workers" who have to work part time but want full time jobs. As we know, club stores, super centers, and dollar stores are outperforming c-stores, drug stores, and to a lesser extent, grocery stores. But Nick says the good news is that the number of average trips consumers make is starting to bounce back .
