Mexican Craft Brewers Speak

July 12, 2013Dear Client: Recall that Mexican antitrust authorities announced yesterday the curtailment of Cuauhtemoc (Heineken) and Grupo Modelo's (ABI) exclusivity contracts with bars and restaurants in the nation. These dang contracts should now not exceed 25% of the total outlets they do business with, reduced to 20% over five years. Wouldn't you love to have that, if you're a large brewer? We thought you'd be interested in how our craft brewer brothers below the border feel about this compromise.
