September 23, 2011 The Coming Barley Crisis Dear Client:This hasn't been a very good year for barley worldwide. Droughts, flooding, the rise of competing crops, demand, and pricing have conspired to drastically reduce the quantity and quality of malting barley in key growing regions including Western Europe, Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Canada and Australia.In the U.S. the situation isn't much better. As reported earlier in CBD, the USDA Crop Production Report says the estimate of total acreage harvested as of Sept.
