New Craft Grows in Boston’s Backyard

Dear Client:Portico opened this summer in Boston. By now, the months-old brewer, helmed by a few young professional males, distributes to 10-plus tap houses around the Boston area. And, like more and more startups, they're contract brewing (with Watch City Brewing Co. in Waltham) until they can gather the capital to secure their own facility (the website slates a June 2013 completion date, "fingers crossed"). Director of business development Ian Chester portrays their arrangement as nimble at this nascent stage.
