I had held out hope that since New Year's Eve was on a Friday night, we'd have better trends. But it was not to be. Symphony IRI scans show that, for the four weeks ending January 2, the beer industry was down 3.1%, a worse trend than previous weeks. The beer industry, at least off-premise, ended weakly. And it ended weakly in virtually every category
