Will Gambrinus Lose Corona?

Corona importer for the eastern half of the US (plus Texas), Gambrinus, is reportedly in arbitration talks with Grupo Modelo. Gambrinus' current contract with Modelo expires in 2006. Gambrinus sells about 65 million case equivs of Modelo products a year.BusinessWeek International reported that Gambrinus chief Carlos Alvarez and Modelo were in buyout talks. Later on Friday, a Modelo spokesman said the two were not in talks, but that they were in arbitration over the termination of their contract in 2006.
