A few housekeeping items to get out of the way: November 18, 2008 was the last day Anheuser-Busch Cos. operated as an independent American company, ending its 148 year history and embarking on a new era. It's long-held stock symbol since 1980, BUD, is retired on the New York Stock Exchange.
