In a court filing June 1, big bottler Coca-Cola Enterprises claimed that Wal-Mart, at a November meeting, threatened to introduce a private label sports drink to compete with PowerAde unless the bottler agreed to ship the product to the retailers' centralized warehouses. Recall that a group of independent bottlers sued Coke and CCE, accusing infringement of their perpetual equity agreement, a suit closely watched by the beer industry.
