In an interesting conference call last week sponsored by UBS analyst Caroline Levy, Discus president Peter Cressy outlined the main reasons spirits have gained share against beer. First, Sunday sales. Peter said that since they started allowing Sunday liquor sales in Pennsylvania, for example, only 10% of the stores remain open on Sunday, but those stores are experiencing 25% increases in spirit sales.
