First, let's play catch up. The folks at InterbrewAmBev prefer to characterize the complex stock swap as a "combination," not a merger. I'm not sure of the difference, but apparently it matters, particularly to AmBev, which clearly wishes to maintain its autonomy in the Western Hemisphere and also must satisfy the Brazilian government that control of the company remains in Brazil (that may be why the AmBev president dined with the Brazilian President last night).
