Imports’ Astounding Growth

According to the latest figures, it looks as though the trend of imports taking share from premium domestics continues unabated. May import shipment numbers were up a huge 14% (cycling up 3% last May), according to chief beer economist Lester Jones at the Beer Institute.Mexico, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Italy lead the way (or, to put it another way, Corona/Femsa, Heineken Light, Stella Artois, and Peroni). That puts import shipments up 13% year-to-date through May, the best five month volume
