Federal Dietary Guidelines Misread by Liquor Folks

The 2005 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, released Wednesday by the Federal government, includes dietary guidance on beverage alcohol consumption. The net-net of those recommendations: If you drink, drink in moderation. An example of moderation is two drinks a day for men, one for women. I get sleepy just writing about it.But fireworks kicked in Wednesday when the Distilled Spirits Council (DISCUS), which is the lobby for the liquor companies, issued an aggressive press release which claimed, among other things, that
