Boston Beer Posts “Some Slowing of Trends”

The Boston Beer Company reported first quarter core product depletions decrease of 5% adjusted for selling days, and shipments were down 13%, though net income increased as it cycled their product recall in the first quarter of 2008. Depletions decreases were primarily attributed to decreases in Samuel Adams Boston Lager, Sam Adams Light and the Samuel Adams Brewmaster's Collection, partially offset by increases in Samuel Adams Seasonals and Twisted Tea. Net pricing was up 3%.Year-to-date depletions reported to the Company
