As we noted last week, it was revealed that Heineken NV and Carlsberg were in cahoots to make a surprise bid for Scottish & Newcastle, a bid which was deemed "unwelcome" by S&N's board, particularly since Carlsberg is a partner with S&N in the profitable and growing BBH division, which sells beer in Russia and the Baltics, a fast-growing area in the global beer spectrum
