The soap opera drama of the New York expanded bottle bill continues, as BBD has learned that the eight alleged hooligans who allegedly conspired to defraud millions from New York state beer distributors and cola bottlers by redeeming, and then re-redeeming bottles and cans, profiting seven cents per container each time, are now entitled to the state's retroactive increase in the handling fee of 1.5 cents per container, going back to June 1, and also effectively artificially reducing the the number of unredeemed deposits, cheating distributors out of the 20% of that shrunken pool they now get to keep .
